Walton County Single Family Stormwater Requirement Changes

In July of 2023, Walton County Board of County Commissioners passed Land Development Code (LDC) changes that affected the design of single family stormwater systems in the part of the county south of the Choctawhatchee Bay. The biggest change was what is called the design storm event for the water quantity requirements. This change is from the 5-year storm to 10-year storm. This change has been found to cause little impact to the size of the systems.

If you had a stormwater system designed by BGS in 2023 or prior and submitted after Jan 1, 2024, then you will get the stormwater plan comment to address the new criteria. We will be happy to update this and cost of update determined by impact on the systems design. If you are looking for someone to design your system, then please see the contact us page to submit a request for us to reach out.
